We went for 7 nights and by the end we were ready to leave.

Anyway, being so isolated and not being able to swim in the ocean (due to riptides) makes anything more than a few days just too much (unless you don't care about spending $1K USD for spa and golf days). (We've had Preferred Club at another Secrets resort). The other pool offered is only available to you if you pay the extra $$ for the Preferred Club, which is just a waste. I don't know, but I expect the water to be crystal clear. Maybe the filtration/sanitation system couldn't keep up, or maybe there was a problem. My wife said several times that she thought the pool smelt of urine and I have to agree. We observed large groups of people spending entire days in the pool, drinking non-stop and never getting out. We've been to many other resorts such as this and we had never seen such poor water quality. As for the pool, the water just wasn't clean. Sometimes you would get a drink in a nice clear glass, the next one would be this ugly, yellow, vessel that is simply not acceptable. As for the bar, my biggest pet peeve is the number of plastic glasses that were obviously old, yellow and scratched that they should have been replaced years ago. The food ranged from just bad to very good, but in general, all very mediocre and the quality was much lower than what we expected. The services offered at the resort (Spa and Golf) are good, but at a very unreasonable cost. Overall the resort is good, but we think it's definitely over rated and just isn't good value for the experience.
